Monadnock

Monadnock isn't tall,

so the Immortals neglect

its forests. Shrubs rot

from mice nibbling roots.

But when streams breakout

again in Spring, burbling

calls Them and They answer

with wind, rain, and pebbles

that ruffle slopes like floods.
