An Owl

An Owl

An owl makes its

     nest in a hole

inside a rotten tree

     near a deep brook

where small trout

     feed on midges

when they're there.

     An owl can corral

trout when an eddy

forms even when ice

covers water and shore.

     An owl seems huge

though weighs almost

     nothing unlike trout.
