Consider the Lily
Consider the Lily
Bit like onion and some
what like death thrown
in because your corsage,
sprouts through snow
like Spring that must follow
Winter, its big brother:
lily could be your little
sister fallen among rocks,
or your mind on the rocks,
a spill forlorn against
the shore, dressed in sea
oats instead of blooms
like the tall grass of prairies
until exposed to salt
and waves, the wind,
cause of both, and a prophecy.
