Crossings

If the great river

were shallow, we

would wade across.

But now it's a flood,

so we must pay

the boatman.

These mountains

were once across

another continent.

Its great river

is now our sea

where we must fish.

Plains full of grass

feed bison, and they

feed us even though 

the grass hides snakes.

We will still

cross the plains.
