Crossings

if the great river 

were shallow we 

would wade across 

but now it's a flood 

so we must pray 

for the boatman

these mountains 

were once across 

another continent 

and its great river 

is now the sea 

so we must fish

plains full of grass 

feed bison and they 

feed us     even if 

the grass hid snakes 

we would still 

     cross the plains
