After Life

After Life 

     because we're feeble 

     we know why ducks 

avoid us     why ghosts 

barely haunt anymore 

     because our skin has 

dried and grown so thin 

unsightly bruises curse 

us like a curious cancer 

symptoms and our dizzy 

demeanor put off many 

     who just want quiet not 

unruly games like 'dozens'
