Marshall
Marshall
Once I celebrated independence day,
Marshall met me on my way back
home and presented me with a gram
of toot which we shared, then we
played guitar for awhile. I didn't
belong to the world; it belonged to me.
Once I celebrated independence day,
the policemen shrouded in blue
surrounded me like a tarn, still,
the sheriff's saloon against my belly,
woods breathing with the wind,
river lapping at the Torpedo Factory.
Once I celebrated independence
day, and the world was mine.
