Io 

Phoenicians deny they shackled Io, 

stole her for Egypt. Io herself, they 

say, made love with a captain as his 

vessel moored at Argos. Then seeing 

herself swollen with child, she left 

her shores, freely sailed with him 

to avoid the revelation, the shame, 

the chiding of her papa, the king.
