Jail's Lonely
Jail's Lonely
Been there for a night. Had a cold concrete
slab on which to sleep. Can't remember
if they locked me down. Just had my brown
corduroy coat to keep warm. Drank too
much cause girlfriend had overdosed, dead
at the Chelsea. When teens, we'd swum
for the Marlins. Her dad was a doc while
mine was a mailman, so we'd not really
run in the same crowd, ritzier high school
than me. Anyway, my niece's husband drank
too much over the past month because he
didn't get the promotion he'd expected.
Then he went to his doc for help to go cold
turkey, and his doc tried a couple different
meds on her husband's problem and caused
a psychotic episode, so now, he's in the clinic.
He wants to be set free. He's crying, crying.
I think he's lucky he did not die from contra
indicators his doc missed in pharma catalog.
It's lonely by yourself but maybe safer.
