Prophet of Not 

Mama said i was negative

(there are some tings)

     like my father.

(i am not)

But i would tell her something

(ashamed)

and she would say, "Oh, you're

(and i need)

     making that up!"

(to bring)

Maybe she was accusing me

(those)

     of fantasizing,

 (tings to mind)

or she was just astonished

(stead of negatives)

and the phrase was a gesture 

not of disbelief but surprise.
